It’s hard to believe that the World Wide Web will celebrate it’s 25th birthday this year! For those of us still able to remember the days of DSL and 2G mobile broadband, it’s surprising to see just how far access to the internet has evolved these past few years.
In 1997 for example, the introduction of Wi-Fi technology was a key milestone in granting more and more users access to the internet. Further revolutions came in the form of domestic broadband in the year 2000, allowing web users to browse the net at much higher speeds.
Today our internet capacity continues to grow with speeds of up to 1,000 mbps, fibre optic broadband, 5G etc. To see a detailed progression of internet access over the past 45 years, check out the infographic below:
