By the mid 1920s, US cities such as Chicago were overrun with thousands of notorious gangs, corrupt bureaucrats and illegal activities. It wasn’t until the end of prohibition in 1933 that many of the bosses behind this organized crime were caught and imprisoned for their crimes.
